With more than 20,000 visitors each year, the Turkish Festival returns to Freedom Plaza on September 24th. Organized and financed by DC’s Turkish American community, this highly anticipated event is chock full of art, dancing, and food. Authentic cuisine is supplied by a wide variety of local restaurants, which is sure to be a hit among food connoisseurs of all backgrounds. The Culture and Tourism Tent features demonstrations of many Turkish arts, such as tile-making, carpet weaving, and calligraphy. The festival’s Bazaar will showcase items like pottery and traditional jewelry.

The Kid’s Tent at the Turkish Festival guarantees that youngsters will have just as good of a time at the celebration as adults. Hands-on activities for kids make for an educational and fun time, and they also send them home with artistic souvenirs of their own creation. With a little something for everyone young and old alike, it’s no wonder that this cultural festival is such a hit each year.
