“Donald Sultan: The Disaster Paintings” at the Smithsonian American Art Museum May 26 – September 4

A great way to beat the heat this summer is to visit the Smithsonian American Art Museum, located in Washington D.C.’s Penn Quarter district. Starting May 26th, you can check out a unique exhibit called Donald Sultan: The Disaster Paintings. Donald Sultan is a painter who illustrates the demise of manmade structures such as planes and how they could be destroyed by catastrophic events.. In his paintings, Donald Sultan strives to illustrate that man is self-destructive and whatever is built will eventually be destroyed.

If you’re a fan of Donald Sultan, he will be speaking at the Smithsonian American Art Museum on June 1st about his work and his approach to painting. The exhibit will be open May 26th through September 4th and can be viewed anytime the museum is open.
