National Museum of African American History and Culture

This Smithsonian Institute museum is one of its newest, but already boasts an impressive visitor roster. Come see the more than 37,000 photographs, artifacts, and documents in their collection, as well as multifaceted exhibits on The Civil Rights movements, African American influence in the arts, and much more.
The museum also holds a variety of events, like the upcoming series on teaching race in the classroom or discussions on the monuments of the Civil War. The National Museum of African American History and Culture utilizes a timed pass system to enter the museum. Walkups are permitted only on the weekdays. The museum is open 364 days a year and is free to the public. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
