Art Enables: A Professional Studio and Gallery for Artists With Disabilities
Art Enables isn’t an art therapy program, and it isn’t an art school — Executive Director Tony Brunswick wants to make that clear. In a feature for NPR, he emphasizes the fact that this is a professional studio where artists come to work on their masterpieces. The artists just all happen to share one thing in common: they have disabilities.
Their disabilities do not define the artists or their art, however. They create and sell masterpieces just as any other artist would, through gallery showings and an online shop. So Art Enables provides beautiful accent pieces for homes around DC, and it also fosters a community of individuals who have the skills and the materials to make a career out of their artistic talents. Come to the gallery to check out what they’ve been working on and leave with a new piece for your home.
