Located at the National Gallery of Art’s East Building, The Big Draw Festival  promotes visual literacy and the universal language of drawing as a tool for learning, expression, and invention. The festival takes place on October 27^th and 28^th, and it makes a great way to spend a fall weekend.

The event will feature a Sketching Lab, live model sketching, in-gallery sessions with teaching artists, live music, and film screenings. The festival is entirely free and each program is first-come, first served. The museum-wide celebration of drawing is the world’s largest drawing festival and is a great way to enhance your own sketching skills. Check out the following schedule of events:

  Take Five Meditation leads 45 minutes of mindfulness exercises and communal contemplations to jump-start each day of the festival.
