Explore the Galaxy at the National Air and Space Museum
At the heart of the Milky Way Galaxy sits a black hole known as Sagittarius A. Scientists know very little about the abyss that lies beyond its borders, but you can help them discover new frontiers when you climb aboard the ride simulator at the National Air and Space Museum.
The ride simulator transports guests to a few make-believe destinations, including the black hole, and shows them an entire galaxy’s worth of planets along the way. This is just one of the ways that this Smithsonian museum brings air and space exploration to life within its four walls. The museum also showcases a wide variety of aircraft that have actually soared through the sky in the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall and the America by Air exhibits. Some displays tell specific stories, like Apollo to the Moon, which follows the tale of the United States’ first astronauts to explore the moon.
